The Arcfox GT is a limited-production, all-electric hypercar produced by Arcfox, a premium electric vehicle brand under the Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (BAIC Group). Unveiled in 2019, the GT serves as a halo car and technology flagship, designed to showcase the brand’s engineering capabilities and performance potential in the high-end EV market.

Development and Design

Developed in collaboration with the Spanish motorsport engineering firm QEV Technologies and designed by Walter de Silva (former design chief of Audi, Volkswagen, and SEAT), the Arcfox GT blends extreme performance with distinctive styling. The design features a low-slung, aggressive silhouette with sharp lines and aerodynamic elements, emphasizing its track-focused intent.

Two variants were presented:

  • Arcfox GT Street Version: A road-legal supercar.
  • Arcfox GT Track Edition: A more extreme, race-oriented variant featuring a Formula E-derived push-rod suspension system and enhanced aerodynamics, including a prominent rear wing.

Performance and Powertrain

The Arcfox GT employs a sophisticated all-electric powertrain:

  • Drive System: Four electric motors, one for each wheel, enabling precise torque vectoring.
  • Power Output: The combined system delivers approximately 1,087 horsepower (812 kW) and 1,320 Nm of torque.
  • Acceleration: The car is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.59 seconds.
  • Battery: Details on battery capacity remain scarce, but it utilizes a high-performance liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack.
  • Top Speed: Reportedly exceeds 250 km/h (155 mph).

Chassis and Technology

The GT is built around a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, ensuring extreme rigidity and light weight. The Track Edition’s push-rod suspension is directly inspired by Formula E racing technology, optimizing handling and dynamics. The car also features advanced regenerative braking and a sophisticated thermal management system for the battery and motors.

Production and Availability

The Arcfox GT was positioned as a limited-edition model, with production numbers estimated to be in the very low dozens, making it an exclusive collector’s item. It was never intended for mass-market sale but rather to establish the Arcfox brand’s performance credentials and attract attention to its more mainstream consumer models like the Arcfox αT and αS SUVs.

Significance and Legacy

The Arcfox GT played a crucial role as a brand statement for Arcfox. It demonstrated BAIC Group’s ambition to compete in the global premium EV segment, moving beyond its history of manufacturing more economical vehicles. By leveraging international design and motorsport engineering expertise, the GT project aimed to instantly position Arcfox as a technologically advanced and performance-oriented marque. While the GT itself is rarely seen, it successfully introduced the Arcfox name to the world stage.
