History
The company originated in Finland, initially operating under the name RMK (RMK Motorcycles). Under this original branding, the team developed the RMK E2 prototype, a striking electric motorcycle featuring a novel hubless rear wheel. The prototype was first showcased at the MP19 trade fair in Helsinki in 2019, where it reportedly garnered over 500 pre-orders .
Shortly thereafter, the company rebranded to Verge Motorcycles and relocated its headquarters to Tallinn, Estonia. In 2021, Verge launched the production version of its TS series, which evolved from the original RMK E2 design . The company made a significant public debut in the United States at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2023, announcing the official delivery timelines for its three-model lineup and pricing for the US market .
In 2025, Verge unveiled a major technical advancement by announcing that its updated TS Pro model would be the world’s first production electric motorcycle to utilize an all-solid-state battery, moving beyond the liquid-electrolyte lithium-ion cells common in the industry. This model was presented at CES 2026 .
Technology
Verge distinguishes itself from competitors through a combination of proprietary hardware and software technologies designed to rethink the standard motorcycle architecture.
Donut Motor
The signature feature of all Verge motorcycles is the “Donut Motor,” a patented, hubless electric motor built directly into the rear wheel. Unlike traditional motorcycles that use a chain or belt to transmit power from a motor mounted in the frame, the Donut Motor generates torque directly at the wheel . The design allows for a lower center of gravity by freeing up space in the frame for a larger battery and eliminates the need for drivetrain maintenance .
In 2025, Verge introduced the Donut Motor 2.0 on the TS Pro. This second-generation motor retained the 1,000 Nm of torque of its predecessor but was reportedly 50% lighter, contributing to improved handling and efficiency .
Starmatter Platform
The Starmatter platform is the vehicle’s central operating system. It functions as a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and connectivity hub, allowing for over-the-air (OTA) software updates. This enables the company to add new features, refine performance parameters, and adjust ride customization without requiring physical hardware changes at a dealership .
Solid-State Battery
At the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Verge announced that the TS Pro would be the first production motorcycle to feature a solid-state battery. This type of battery replaces the liquid or gel electrolyte found in conventional lithium-ion packs with a solid medium, which is generally considered safer and less prone to fire in the event of an accident. The system is designed to support ultra-fast charging, with the company claiming an 80% charge can be achieved in approximately 10 minutes on a compatible 200 kW charger . Customers can choose between a 20.2 kWh pack offering up to 350 km (217 miles) of range or a 33.3 kWh pack extending range to 600 km (373 miles) .
Models
Verge’s lineup consists of the TS series of electric naked bikes. All models share the same fundamental Donut Motor architecture but differ in power output, battery capacity, and standard equipment.
Verge TS (Base)
The entry-level model in the range, originally announced as a more accessible version of the platform. The base TS produces approximately 107 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.5 seconds with a range exceeding 250 km (155 miles) .
Verge TS Pro
The mid-range performance model. The TS Pro has been the focus of several technical updates. It produces 137-138 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds .
- Range (2025 model): 350 km (217 miles) with a 20.2 kWh solid-state battery, or 600 km (373 miles) with the optional 33.3 kWh pack .
- Charging: Capable of 10-minute charges to 80% using a 200 kW CCS fast charger .
- Guinness World Record: The TS Pro holds the record for the longest ride on an electric motorcycle on a single charge in real London city traffic .
Verge TS Ultra
The flagship high-performance variant. The TS Ultra is positioned as a “performance beast,” featuring the highest output in the lineup. It produces 201 horsepower and a maximum of 1,200 Nm of torque. This allows the Ultra to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). It utilizes a 20.6 kWh battery providing a range of up to 375 km (233 miles) .
Sales and Service
Verge has adopted a direct-to-consumer retail model, influenced by executives with experience at Apple and Tesla. The company opened its first brand stores in Monaco in 2023, followed by flagship locations in high-profile shopping centers such as Westfield London in the UK and Westfield Century City in Los Angeles, California, in 2024 .
The company’s service model emphasizes minimal maintenance due to the lack of a traditional chain or belt drive. Bikes are delivered fully assembled to customers and are supported by a two-year full vehicle warranty and a five-year warranty on the battery pack . The modular design of the motorcycle is intended to allow for easier repairs and future upgrades of components .
