Here is a short article recapping the exciting Round 4 of the 2026 Jeddah E-Prix.
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — In a thrilling display of tactical genius and raw speed, Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein celebrated his 100th Formula E start in the perfect way, by taking a commanding victory in Round 4 of the 2026 Jeddah E-Prix. The win at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Friday not only marked his first of the season but also propelled the German to the top of the World Championship standings .
Under the floodlights for the first time this season, the race was defined by the strategic introduction of the mandatory Pit Boost and Attack Mode. Wehrlein, who started from third on the grid, mastered both elements to perfection. While others around him activated their advantages early, Wehrlein delayed both his 50kW Attack Mode and his Pit Boost, a strategy that allowed him to blast past his rivals in the closing stages and build an insurmountable lead .
“It was a super, nicely executed race,” Wehrlein said after the race. “I waited a bit with the Pit Boost but also with the Attack Mode, and I think that was the right strategy. I wanted that win really badly — it’s been a while — and it’s great to bounce back like that” .
Swiss driver Edoardo Mortara produced a heroic drive for the Mahindra Racing team. After securing a stunning pole position, a wheel-spinning start dropped him to fifth on the opening lap . However, Mortara kept his cool and staged a remarkable recovery, using a late Attack Mode to carve his way back through the field and claim an excellent second place .
Completing the podium was Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans. The Kiwi driver delivered another masterclass in progression, climbing from tenth on the grid to finish third. His late surge secured his second consecutive podium finish, following his victory in Miami . Evans credited the team’s focus on strategy for the result, saying, “It was all about strategy today… I’m massively happy” .
The race was not without its drama. The start was delayed when Nyck de Vries’ Mahindra ground to a halt on the grid with a technical issue, and the first lap saw a collision that took out Lola Yamaha’s Zane Maloney, bringing out an early safety car . Further back, championship contender Nick Cassidy (Citroën Racing) produced a stunning charge of his own, climbing from 13th on the grid to finish sixth, limiting the damage in the title fight .
With his victory and fastest lap, Wehrlein now leads the drivers’ standings on 64 points, with Cassidy dropping to second on 48 . Porsche also strengthened its position at the top of both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ championships .
The action in Jeddah is far from over. The drivers and teams will return to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Saturday for Round 5, another night race that promises more high-speed drama and strategic battles under the lights .
